Needle box

Even from the simplest things to which we do not pay attention, we consider garbage, you can do something worthwhile, unlike anything else. If, for example, you put together an ordinary cardboard box that was already going on a trip to a trash can, with a jute rope and old lace, then a pretty box for needlework may well come out. Weaving jute twine is so simple that you can master it in 2 minutes.

To create such a box, we need:

  • - jute rope (about 3 mm thick);
  • - cardboard box of a suitable size;
  • - scissors;
  • - lace (its length should be equal to the box's coverage by perimeter);
  • - crochet hook;
  • - big sharp scissors.

Hand-made boxes are made like this:

1. We make cuts on the sides of our box. When incision should be strips of 1.5 cm thick. The cut should not be made exactly on the corner part.It should be cut to the bottom.

2. The resulting strips are cut off a little more around the sides, so that a gap of 5-6 millimeters is formed between them.

3. We tie a thread to the corner strip. This will be the beginning of our weaving.

4. Thread round the thread so that the thread alternately passes in front, then behind the strips. After passing the first round of jute, you should start the next row. Now, where the thread passed from the front, it should go behind, and where the jute was threaded from behind, we skip from the front.

5. With this alternation we make the necessary number of rows. Each following row is carefully lowered manually down so that the jute rows fit tightly together.

6. We fix now the edge of the lace, clamping it between the strips in the corner part. Glue it with glue. 7. We fix glue lace around the perimeter. 8. Cut the strips evenly, leaving 0.8 mm of the free edge. 9. We are wrapping the bottom edge of the box in order to close the cardboard pieces that look out from below. To do this, simply knit the loops in an arbitrary order, cling to the bottom row of jute with loops. Such a chaotic mating only gives beauty to the product. 10. To close the top row knit a strip of jute. It should consist of single crochets. In the same row should be 4 columns without nakida. More bars can be made. We will have enough thickness to cover the top edge of the box carefully. The length of the strip should be such that it is enough to close paper strips.
