Stained glass made on glass

Making a real stained glass window, like those that we can see in cathedrals or in the windows of old buildings, is quite laborious and not everyone is ready to turn their home into a studio equipped with everything necessary for this kind of activity. Recently, an increasingly simple and intricate stained-glass window is gaining more and more popularity; it is no worse than coping with the tasks of an ordinary stained-glass window: to transform ordinary glass into an element of decor, a picture that transmits light through itself. Preparation for work To begin your stained glass you need to start from the image (or imagination), that is, the first thing we determine with the picture - we find it on the Internet, draw or copy from the book. It may even be a photo that you transformed into a contour image. Next, go to the art store for stained glass paints on the glass. They are water and alcohol based, depends on how the finished product will respond to wet cleaning. Also, it is worth mentioning that we need two types of paint: thick contour and liquid, transparent to fill and simulate the effect of glass. The contour is standard black, but there are silver, gold ... In this paper we will use black. We define colors in advance, for example, I draw them on my picture. Which I used the colors you will see in the following illustrations to the right. You can offer paints in a tube, which are simply extruded, or in a jar for applying with a brush. In my opinion, those that are in a tube are more convenient for a start. The last thing we need is the actual work surface - glass of a certain shape and size (cut out according to the image format). The easiest way to start working with glass is small and flat. Before applying the paint, wash the surface thoroughly with soapy water and wipe dry so that there are no stains, and the paint is better laid down. Execution of work 1. The selected image should be on opaque paper, and the contour should be clearly visible, you can also circle the gel pen.

From above on the picture we impose a glass and fix it or try to follow it along the way work so that it does not shift. We transfer the contour of the pattern to glass, trying to make lines of uniform thickness. If you make a mistake somewhere, it is not scary, because you can always erase the paint from the glass. I use for this a match, a screwdriver or a thin wand, the end of which is wrapped around with a napkin, and they remove the unsuccessful touches. stained glass made on glass 2. And at this stage it does not matter if the paint gets the wrong way . Since the contour is already dry, you can safely blot with a napkin on those places where the paint is bad or you have mixed up the color.
